Camden Town was its usual busy, slightly chaotic self in late March, and the Camden Underworld seemed fitting for tonight’s lineup. The venue was packed, warm, and loud before the first band finished setting up.
Pave opened without buildup and got straight into it. Their set focused on heavy, riff-driven tracks with clear alt-metal and post-grunge influences. They avoided overcomplication, which worked in their favour. The guitars were thick, the vocals had a rough edge, and the overall sound suited the room well. At times, the set merged together but never dragged. That slightly loose feel made it more appealing. They looked comfortable on stage and didnβt force interaction, making the crowd responses feel more genuine. By the end, theyβd gained attention from people who might not have known them before.

When Grey Daze stepped on stage, the atmosphere altered immediately. The crowd moved closer, and a clear focus filled the room. From the start, their show carried more weight in sound and tone. The band played with controlled intensity, keeping things tight while letting the songs breathe. Their material translated well live. The instrumentation was deliberate and balanced, never overpowering but hitting hard when needed. They avoided excessive stage presence or filler between songs, keeping things moving and permitting the music to do most of the work.

What stood out the most was how the audience responded. Instead of constant movement or noise, there was a more attentive energy. People were singing along, watching closely, and staying present with the performance. Singer Cris Hodges was fully enmeshed with his audience, and it was often hard to tell the two apart. It gave the set a more focused and immersive feel, which doesnβt always happen in smaller venues.
By the end of the night, the room appeared fully spent. Not drained, but like everyone had engaged in something that held their attention throughout. It was a strong headline set that didnβt rely on spectacle, just solid performance and a clear connection with the crowd. A straightforward, effective show from both bands and a good indication of how much a tight live set can carry a night.
