Lake Malice Announce ‘Chrome Red’

Taken From Their Debut Album ‘I Wanna Know If It’s Real’

Out Now!

Following their packed-out appearance at Download Festival as well as the announcement of their biggest UK and European headline tour to date, UK alternative breakout act Lake Malice present the penultimate instalment from their long-awaited debut album. ‘Chrome Red’ blends electronic textures with heavy alt-metal riffs to create a high-energy, modern industrial edge.

Of the track, Alice says: “‘Chrome Red’ is about the breaking point of one-sided friendships and the cost of unchecked individualism. It explores the moment you realise someone has been taking more than they’ve ever given, and that sometimes the strongest thing you can do is walk away.

The song was inspired by my own experiences and by reading The Climber, a psychological manga about loneliness and extreme individualism. It’s about realising a friendship has become one-sided, where someone only values you for what you can do for them, and finding the strength to let go.”

Built for impact, ‘Chrome Red’ moves between hook-driven intensity and glitchy breakdowns, designed to hit hard in both recorded form and live performance.

Taken from their debut album I Wanna Know If It’s Real, set for release on 11th September, a genre warping collision of alternative rock, hyperpop and modern metal that captures the emotional overload of growing up online. Blending crushing riffs, glitch heavy electronics, explosive hooks and emotionally raw songwriting, I Wanna Know If It’s Real explores themes of social media addiction, AI anxiety, nostalgia, trauma, identity, success and the increasingly blurred line between authenticity and performance in modern culture. Balancing vulnerability with sonic violence, the album creates a sound equally shaped by underground heavy music and internet-era hyperstimulation, emotionally charged, unpredictable and unapologetically current.

Rapidly emerging as one of the UK’s most exciting new heavy acts, Lake Malice’s fearless fusion of hyperpop and metal has already earned them Heavy Music Award nominations for ‘Best UK Breakthrough Artist’ and ‘Best Breakthrough Live Artist’. Support continues to grow with airplay from BBC Radio 1 and Kerrang! Radio alongside coverage from Kerrang!, Metal Hammer and Rock Sound.

Renowned for their high-energy live performances, Lake Malice have toured extensively throughout the UK and Europe, with key support slots for Enter Shikari, Hanabie, Rory and Scene Queen. They have also appeared at some of the UK’s most prominent rock and alternative festivals, including Download Festival and 2000trees.

Beyond their music, Lake Malice have cultivated a striking visual identity inspired by anime, gaming culture and internet-era aesthetics, bringing their creative world to life through cinematic visuals, immersive storytelling and an engaged online community. As their audience continues to grow internationally, Lake Malice stand at the forefront of a new generation of alternative artists redefining what heavy music can be.
